Richard Matthews KC
Richard Matthews KC was called to the bar in 1989 and appointed King’s Counsel in 2010. He has long been ranked as a leading Silk in Health and Safety, Environment and Inquests and Inquiries by the independent guides to the legal profession. Richard is widely regarded as a foremost regulatory and corporate defence King’s Counsel in England and Wales.
Richard has long been an advocate of a modernised chambers structure that values and supports this specialist work in a way that the current antiquated system fails. So, in 2020 he established his own chambers, Mayfair Place, to put his ideas into practice. During this period, LawPage was first conceived and built by him and Jim Meyer, as a way to enable similar minded barristers to liberate themselves from being tied to the old, inefficient and outdated system and to establish a more modern and efficient practice.
Through Mayfair Place Chambers and LawPage, barristers now have a state-of-the-art IT platform to give them total autonomy, and shared control, over their practice. The system fully integrates the Microsoft 365 suite of tools and has been developed to manage both case and client data to ensure barristers can meet their professional and legal obligations, keeping data secure throughout.
